Meet the Alphavet team

We truly believe that we have an amazing team here at Alphavet. All of us work together to provide exceptional care to each and every animal that comes through our doors. We are committed to veterinary nurse training to provide high quality professionals for the future. The majority of our trainees remain at Alphavet after qualification to further continue their career development.

Practice founder and principal

Russell graduated from the University of Bristol Veterinary School, with credits in Veterinary Surgery, Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Public Health. Since then he has been awarded a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons' Certificate in Small Animal Orthopaedics, this led to the creation of Alphavet Referrals and the Alphavet Veterinary Centre in 1996. Having grown up with pets, Russell knew early on that a career as a vet was the only one for him. In 2010 Russell became the first and only vet to gain a Masters Degree in Orthopaedic Engineering (a human orthopaedic surgeon qualification) from Cardiff University.

In 2015 Russell was awarded Advanced Practioner in Small Animal Orthopaedics by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

"Being a vet is the best job in the world. Like any job you only get out what you put in. If you continue to study and develop your skills throughout your career then you will always be professionally stimulated, but more importantly, the pets under you care will benefit from continuing efforts."
